If you scan without specifying this function, then the printer itself determines whether there is paper in the automatic feeder. If there is, then it scans from it, if not, then from the tablet. But in this case, the program accepts only one sheet, and then sends everything in the forest. There are some other programs for this business, I really want to work through the automatic feeder. The printer is also configured to scan to a network folder, but this is not convenient for the end user.
