What to read, study first
A few years ago I started my first blog for which I used WP.
Everything was successful, but now I want to try something of my own, start simple and at least somehow strengthen my knowledge in this area over time. So far I have only basic knowledge of html.
Tell me, please, what books / manuals to read in order to somehow get used to website building.

To begin with, I recommend htmlbook.ru/
There is both HTML and CSS, and everything is quite fully described.
Well, if you have basic knowledge of html, then it’s worth reading about css (I hope you meant it).
Then comes the fork. This is the choice of directions for developing sites (server / client), and each of the directions has its own subgenres, so to speak. And there is also a choice of language (for the benefit of the client part, the choice is not great - either js or nothing ... almost nothing).
But we can highlight the general: you need to have an idea, at least a basic one, about how the Internet works (probably even limited to things like DNS, HTTP, HTTPS) (maybe it will be interesting and informative).
Since you are a beginner, I suggest you start by learning javascript. Again, you can write both client scripts for the gallery and the server on it. But I do not advise to stop in one language. Try php, ruby, python... whatever you like in terms of syntax, whatever you like, use it. Over time, experience will come, and you will begin to choose a language as needed. All languages are generally similar, so there will not be any particular problems with the transition from language to language. True, the transition from js to something else will probably be difficult.
My advice is more philosophical than technology, but read Steve Krug anyway.
There is enterprise development, there is non-enterprise development - where do you go?
