Both are very good books, but they are incomparable. Understanding what is said in "Code. The Secret Language of Computer Science" is a must for anyone who is serious about computers. The second is more specialized - for programmers (and not like the first book).

The question is not correctly asked. You need to ask: "Which of these books should you read first?".

Who has read up to the end "Code. The secret language of computer science?
? Did you analyze each scheme to the smallest detail or just memorize it in general? I've reached the triggers and already I can't perceive the description of the schemes orally. Ie, to understand you have to take a pen and step by step, how are you?

Start reading with Perfect Code. But it's better to read both.
