What to read about API development?
A very long time ago there was a similar question What to read on creating a RESTful API for a beginner?
But since then, a lot has certainly changed, at least new materials have appeared. Interested in how to properly develop your own APIs.

I liked this book: REST API Design Rulebook: Designing Consistent RESTful Web Service Interfaces (bought electronically from Amazon, book by O'Reilly, maybe now you can buy it cheaper or even read it for free).
It's hard to design a good API, and this book helps with that. Discussed how and why to use different HTTP methods, how best to design the URL structure, and much more. Detailed, clear, step by step.
