What to do with an unscrupulous customer?

A thing happened that not 1 freelancer is insured against, i.e. the customer "scammed", but he was not careful to leave data to his ftp with several sites. The question is, how can he spoil his nerves, remove him or still not sink to the level of such "scourge" people?

Sometimes it happens that a person simply did not have time to pay, but if I were you, I would upload a shell to the site (invent a file name as something more systemic and upload it as close to the root as possible if the server does not allow the upper levels), and through a couple of weeks, if he doesn’t pay, he would arrange a sabotage that the site will not completely put. Like the layout has moved out or javascript has flown, while in the layout file it would have left a warning for the future performer that this person was throwing. The shell is because the owner will change the password, but the shell will not be removed, even a backup will be made with it in case of something (either he or the hosting). Well, if he pays - remove this muck in two clicks. And yes, google phpFileManager for general development.

If you want justice, go to court!
Burning with indignation and thirsting for retribution, cut off heads and stake publicly so that others would be disrespectful!
And in general, where did such a trend come from that a freelancer can get off on his head with impunity .. can you?!
For the future, make a deal.

Throw and throw, I understand. Revenge always returns and from revenge a person becomes restless. Then you will not be able to calm down for a long time and find a good job.
Work prepaid. Don't send results until you've paid. Unfortunately, in the field of IT there are people who want to get rich at the expense of performers. Take it philosophically. Perhaps God wants you to have a more stable and higher income.
There are companies that value developers - try to get a job in one of these. There, the salaries are higher and the tasks are more interesting.

Well, delete you, fill in the backup, block access, don’t waste your time on it, the contract and prepayment for the future, if you don’t want to - let him look for another, another option is to work through the exchange, where it acts as a guarantor. There are enough unscrupulous customers, over time, learn to weed out 90% even at the stage of negotiations on the style of communication.

Instead of lowering yourself to the level of your customer, better learn from this and think about how you can avoid a similar situation in the future.
