What to do if the speakers in the MacBook stopped working?

Apple MacBook Pro (late 2011). OS X El Capitan 10.11.1. Didn't notice the speakers stopped working. Before that, I listened to music with headphones for a while. Now there is sound in the headphones, the speakers also play sound when turned on / rebooted, but the system does not display their presence. By running "System Settings" - "Sound" - "Output" in the list of devices, you can see "Digital output", but the speakers are not visible.
Based on the information found on the Internet, the problem is with contacts. Mac does not understand that there are no devices, but at the same time it tries to transmit sound to non-internal speakers.
The problem, as I understand it, is quite popular:
1. The red light from the 3.5 jack is on when you try to listen to the sound.
2. the sound of the speakers does not work, but the welcome sound at startup is audible
"Symptomatology" coincides with my problem. The main recommendations are to reboot, supply headphones, or touch the contacts with a toothpick. The first two did not help me, but at the expense of the third, I don’t know if I did everything right. I don’t want to strongly sausage the toothpick into the exit, and light touches of the contacts did not help.
Perhaps someone solved this problem and can tell in more detail. I will be grateful

I run into a problem from time to time. A toothpick solves the problem, but not always the first time. I noticed that you need to find some special place and spend on it. In general, I just gently drive along the inside of the jack.

Hello. After 2-3 years of flawless operation of the jack, today I encountered the same problem. I also saw a lot of text about moving a toothpick and all that did not help. Then someone wrote on the Internet that he simply blew into the connector and helped. I laughed, then blew and damn it really worked)! Like this)
