What to do if the site design is skewed before the next breakpoint?

Good day. The question is purely theoretical. Let's say we have a website design with 3 layouts for 3 breakpoints: min-width: 320px, min-width: 1024px and min-width: 1600px. What to do if, say, from 1600px to 1024px, the design skews at 1440px and normally rises only at 1024px and below (for example, the buttons go under each other, the text moves out, etc.). Ask the designer for 1 more breakpoint or do something with the elements? Have you experienced this in practice? How did you get out of the situation?

Move away from adaptive towards responsive - and you will be happy.
