What to do if the provider issues a gray ip?

Such a question, I need to set up a vpn server on my home machine with ubuntu, and connect to it from a remote office. At home, such a connection: a twisted pair cable enters the apartment, connects to a Wi-Fi router. In the wan-settings of the router, the provider specifies a gray ip - 172.16.166.3. When checking on the site 2ip.ru gives a white address 82.xxx.xxx.210. I tried to connect via ssh from the office, I indicated both that IP and that one, it does not connect. As I understand it, the provider has its own NAT, how to raise the VPN in this case?

how in that case to lift VPN?
No way.
Get a white address from the provider if it provides such a service.
Or rent a server with a white address and set up a VPN server on it.

Option 1: DynDNS. On a router (not all support) or on a home computer.
Option 2: Ask Provo if he can forward a couple of ports.
I recommend the first one.

The simplest solution is offered by Artem. I am for this decision.
Why is everything else nonsense? Because the initiation of the connection will be done from home. If a VPN is needed in order to go home from work when necessary (and it may be necessary all the time, for example, RDP to my home server constantly hangs at work), then what happens when the router at home restarts ?. And it will be impossible to restart the VPN without returning home. What happens when there is a white IP? I just went to the web face or via ssh - and did what I needed.

as in that case

For a static (white) IP, you need to pay the provider a monthly subscription fee.

I think you need to initiate a connection from home to somewhere. As TeamViewer does, for example, the client behind the server establishes a connection to the server. The best way, of course, is to buy a white address from the provider, otherwise the server must not be at home.

There is absolutely no need to purchase an external static IP address.
To organize a remote connection via the Internet, you need:
1) an external dynamic (white) IP address;
2) DDNS to choose from (dyn.com, no-ip.com, etc.) or a router with DDNS support.
In order to receive external dynamic IP addresses when connecting to the Internet, request to disable NAT from your Internet provider through technical support or disable it in your Personal Account.

Set up a VPN server at work and connect to it from home. On a server, you can prescribe to issue a permanent IP to your home computer (attached by mac address). If the home OS is Ubuntu, then it makes sense, for example, to check the status of the vpn connection to the server once an hour, via cron, and, if necessary, restart it if the provider starts to issue another IP for NAT.

As mentioned above - dyndns, but it may not work, because some ISPs have started to use double nat... otherwise nothing when the server is at home.

I have a small RaspberryPi server in my country house, I wanted to access it from the Internet, but, alas, the white IP provider doesn’t have a white IP in principle, ddns works, but it’s no use, since connections from the Internet are blocked inside by the same provider. Found another way. There is such a service vpnki.ru they "connect vpn tunnels" for free. I built two tunnels to them - from my country Raspberry and from a smartphone. (one for pptp, the second for openvpn). I am contacting the dacha raspberry from the outside at its internal address 192.168 ... Quite convenient. I did not check the speed, but it is quite possible to watch the camera. In general, I recommend if someone has difficulty with access.

Who can really answer the question of how to make port forwarding through gray ip addresses and what is needed for this ? Kazaktelecom took my white dynamic ip addresses from me. I used ddns and that was enough for me. and now it's a problem.

And if you just stupidly pull out the provider's cable and plug it into your router and make NAT. Is it possible so?
