What to do if the monitor does not see the hdmi-vga adapter?

Hello, the other day I bought a 1050ti and an hdmi-vga adapter, since I have an old monitor without an hdmi port. Having connected the monitor through the adapter, I didn’t get a picture, but somehow it eventually appeared. After turning off the PC and restarting it, I again have a black screen. I connected the video card to the TV through a separate hdmi cable - everything is fine, I connected the old monitor to the laptop through this adapter - everything is fine, but when I connect the old monitor to the video card through the adapter, I have a black screen. What should I do, in theory everything should work. By the way, when I tried to change the hertz on the monitor (from 60 to 75Hz), the monitor turned off.

Throw out the adapter and buy a normal monitor. VGA is already obsolete, because analog.
