What to choose: original Ubuntu or VirtualBox?
I'm starting to learn web programming. Highly recommended to learn how to work with Unix-like operating systems.
The question arose: how much is Ubuntu in VirtualBox different from the original operating system on the hard drive? Will I be able to implement all the features in VirtualBox?
As I understand it, setting up VirtualBox is easier (given that you won't have to rack your brains with drivers)? Never used anything like it.
Also wanted to clarify how well covers all the features of Ubuntu for Windows 10 from the Microsoft Store?

Yes, you can, nothing special, different from, for example, Windows in VirtualBox is no different.
1 - virtualbox is a cool thing (like vmvar, but vbox is free. and there is also a native hyperv windows hyper-v , in some ways it is even cooler (damic memory allocation and hardware emulation under Windows). only usb does not forward in principle)
2 - in terms of web development, WSL covers 99.99999999% of needs. and it's even easier and more comfortable
Ubuntu from the windows store is a complete OS without X. It's called WSL. The second edition of WSL2 has already been released. There are two ways to use X's. With the help of third-party applications that emulate X under Win. Or connect to the console as if remotely.
There is a specific core and repository.
Virtual box is a computer emulator, which means it is no different from a real computer, but still there may be some limitations on functions, for example, 3d acceleration may not work, performance may be lower than on a real computer.
Otherwise, it will be the same operating system.
