How to start an extra X session on Linux?
Hello.
Please tell me how to start an additional X session, so that the graphical environment of one user works in the background, and the other is active. To be able to switch between running sessions. Required to automate routine tasks (for example, to use the clicker in the background).
If possible, then on the example of Linux Mint, but not necessarily.
Something similar is done with the startx -- :1 command, but it only works for me as root. Which is obviously not safe.
Additional question. Is there a limit on the number of such sessions?

Ctrl+Alt+F1..F12
, depending on the distib, a text session hangs on some "Fx", on some a graphic one.
Most often, a text console appears on F1-F4, and starting from F5 - x's (and most likely F5 is your current )
PS: for automation, I would use virtual machines to the extreme, there is no smell of automation here
