What to choose for connecting iphone and arduino over the air?

The plans are to buy a new phone, and two heavyweights are involved in the selection. Iphone 5 and Nexus 5.
Of course, the iPhone is the priority, but they intimidate me here that it is very problematic to connect a home-made bluetooth device with an iPhone, but they can’t give a clear argument for this position)
I have been on Android for a long time and this problem is not known to me, a cursory search on Google suggested that the arduino is hooked in 99% of cases to Android. Knowledgeable people, tell me where to look in terms of connecting IOS and homemade electronics, or maybe you need special bluetooth modules?

There are BLE modules with support for serial port emulation:

If the device is home, then I would go by controlling it via the web. Oddly enough, this is the easiest option.

no. modules are the same. connection occurs with the creation of a serial port. It's just that there are a lot of manuals on Android and it's more accessible for experiments.
