What to choose AMD Threadripper 2990wx vs i9 9980xe?

Good afternoon.
I want to upgrade my old computer (laptop) to something faster. (computer 8 years old, intel i7, ssd, 16 gb ram)
I like to do dozens of tasks at the same time, the computer is constantly open, about 8 Visual studio, and 100 chrome tabs. Sometimes (oddly enough: D), the computer starts to slow down, and it pisses me off terribly.
I decided to buy a system unit, as it will obviously be more powerful than any laptop.
I was sure that I would buy AMD Threadripper 2990wx even now I even chose the hardware configuration .. But at the last moment I changed my mind ... The last time I had a processor from AMD was 15 years ago ... remembering so-so .. Now I'm afraid to get excited and buy something that no need ... AMD has a lot more cores, but they are weaker than Intel. Also in AMD there are problems with memory performance when all cores are loaded.
I shoveled a bunch of benchmarks ... but I didn’t draw a conclusion for myself. In half of the benchmarks, Intel beats another AMD.
My use of computer
1) Visual studio
2) Chrome
3) Sometimes Photoshop
4) Sometimes
Blender
I would be grateful for help with the choice
Here is the configuration that I chose, but I stopped , I

just didn’t choose the RAM ... the question was between G.skill and HyperX 3600Mhz 4 bars of 16 GB each
But AMD has a hard time with memory ... It may not pull such a frequency .. but Intel seems to would support
The ultimate goal of the venture is to assemble a good computer that will not be bad even after 8 years.

It's hard to say which is better.
Intel will beat the red in the single, but in the multi, AMD will send the intel for beer.
It cannot be said that one or another percent is cooler. As always and everywhere and everything has its pros and cons.
But in general, I personally would buy 2990wx. Read the dude’s review on CSN Priest_kod about him (if you didn’t read it) and he launched his entire branch on 3.8 (although I don’t know what kind of coolness there is and how many fans the case should be) with such frequency he will do Intel in a single. Well, he explains everything competently there, what I think is worthy. But it's up to you.

Application question. The speed per core is important, or they eat multithreading perfectly.
You will not please all software. (What software will you use in 8 years?)
From experience, you still have to update hardware after 4-5 years at most.
And in general, everything is simple: there is money, there is intel.

The situation is similar - only I have a few more virtual machines and browsers. Take TR unequivocally (a bunch of cores and ECC memory). I would replace the motherboard with an MSI MEG X399 CREATION, otherwise you can’t expect a good one from the asus because of the shitty attitude towards users. Memory take ECC 32-64GB (Crucial CT16G4WFD8266). Do not save on the power supply either - Seasonic PRIME ULTRA TITANIUM 1000 watts or Gold for 1300 (10 years warranty, though).
Take Samsung PRO SSD - they are more reliable than EVO. Regarding TR cooling, I studied all the reviews on cooling for it and eventually came to the conclusion that all factory CBOs are complete crap, because. the guarantee for most is a year or two; there is a marriage and can rot. So you need to either install a double-tower heatsink with Noctua coolers that you installed and forgot, or assemble a custom CBO with a large heatsink and high-quality components. For it is not reasonable to risk such expensive iron using CBO with the probability of leakage.
