64 bit put
32 bit is already starting to die, some software is no longer released (Chrome) for 32bit.

With 4 GB of RAM, it makes no sense to put x64. The extra 500 megabytes will be eaten up by more memory consumption x64 programs. Those. there is even a chance of losing performance due to more swap usage.
On the other hand, x64 programs can run more efficiently.
No matter what to put, in general. In any case, it will be bad, there is too little RAM. And on weak laptops, a dozen works better than an eight. What for in general to put the eight?

I would say simple. 4 GB RAM (or higher) = 64 bits. Less than 4 GB = 32.
And to make everything work even better and faster - put not 8, but 7. Only XP is better than Windows 7! (smile).
