I dig, dig, check heaps of sites in SEO centers in order to find the answer to the question: why are they in the first places in google? Although SEO centers do not rate them very well, many do not even have a single meta-description, there is not a single heading (h1), but still they are in the first place!
I already got to the bottom of this - https://www.mywot.com/ru Maybe this is their secret? Although there are sites on the first pages of google without a WOT rating. What's the matter? Do they have a lot of links or what? And how can they be overtaken?

Start from a lot of good, structured and interesting content.

The most important thing in all sites is CONTENT! That is just text. Important, unique, useful even if not very well designed.
It is also important (for Google in the first place) is the age of the site.
SEO as a whole is not a panacea, but understanding SEO will help to get around, or equalize forces with competitors, even those with much more content, an older site, etc.
The most important thing is not quantity, but QUALITY, because sometimes sites on which there are very few pages hang in the search results, and the site is terrible and scary ...
