What threatens the lack of a security certificate on the server?

Hello, tell me what can threaten the end user if the server does not have a security certificate? The situation is as follows: when accessing certain sections of the site (as I understand these sections contain submission forms), the browser starts swearing that the server certificate has expired, that the data can be intercepted by intruders. I'm wondering what kind of data are we talking about, only those that are sent on this site?

The absence of a certificate on the server threatens with several points (problems, if you can call it that):
1) current browsers start to swear (you yourself noticed this). Sometimes browsers block navigation to such pages, referring to the fact that the connection is not secure;
2) many search engines give priority/raise in the search exactly those sites/pages that have an up-to-date certificate (even the simplest one);
3) although it is expensive, but if we did not have the problem of intercepting traffic / data, etc., then there would be no need and the popularity of SSL certificates would not grow.
On pages / sites where your users enter any personal data (name / phone / email), especially if they enter banking / financial data, it is important to put certificates. Thus, you protect the data of your users and increase their loyalty, as well as increase the loyalty of search engines to your site.

To intercept the data, you have to try hard. Here the question is, who is interested in intercepting your traffic. The job is not cheap.
