What specialists are working on virtual reality helmets?

Actually the question is in the title.
It is clear that roughly all specialists in this field can be divided into:
1) Engineers who work on hardware;
2) Programmers who write software for hardware;
3) Physicians who study the brain.
With doctors, everything is clear. Two other questions are of interest:
1) How exactly are specialists from categories 1 and 2 called?
2) Where do they study and what subjects must students take in order to get there?

A programmer who deals directly with hardware logic is, I think, an Embedded Systems Engineer. If you list all the necessary specialists, then see the answer mamkaololosha
