What software should I use to draw a wiring diagram?
Good time, dear community,
I have the following task on hand, there are about 15 servers, 5 switches and other equipment to be placed in one 42U rack in the data center. I have never before encountered the issue of preparing a connection diagram, as well as the image of the facade of racks and physical wiring diagrams, dear engineers, tell me if there is specialized software to draw all this, who and what uses in everyday work? I foresee the first answer about Visio, but please do not offer.

I was looking for something for the same software, there was an additional requirement - free of charge.
I settled on DiagramDesigner
Not without glitches, of course, but you can draw a diagram. In addition to the program, you need to download a set of templates there and connect them. In a set there are templates a la "cisco".
I see that for almost a year the version on the site has not changed, it is not known whether it is still supported by the author or not.
I tried several free analogues - some did not start, others did not have suitable templates.
X-Mind, Mindjet MindManager, freemind, ConceptDraw,
Microsoft Visio, LibreOffice Draw, Dia, Explain1....
TheBrain Visual Paradigm is recommended
here .
And apparently it really is the most suitable - UML What's the best UML diagramming tool? since the answer given is the leader in that thread on Toster.
On my own, I would recommend taking a closer look at Explain 1.5.0.0 and the Visual Understanding Environment (VUE)
More details here vue.tufts.edu , maybe if not for this topic - but generally useful.
In general, all such software systems are collected here, on one sheet -

I draw and document in Google Docs. I tried many options, but the ability to view and edit from any device outweighed.
Ironically , inkscape.org ! Everything is drawn with a bang, in 15-20 minutes!
Take pictures here - https://openclipart.org
For example - search for the word rack - we get a bunch of pictures for the racks and the racks themselves. Well, and so on ...
Of course, you can install microsoft visio, but it's kind of not cheap.
