What software should I try to recover a formatted HDD?
When copying information from one hard drive to another, it turned out after the fact that one directory was not copied without any notification (that's NTFS for you). After that, partitions (logical drives) were deleted on the old disk and a quick format was done.
And now I would like to restore one directory (a bunch of small jpegs). There is a lot of similar software on the net, but enthusiastic descriptions do not add confidence. But they can completely destroy it.
Who came across - is there any method or can there be proven software? And in general, what are the chances of a successful recovery (there was no recording to the disk after that)?

getdataback -
r-studio classic - for severe cases,
if there was no record, then the chances of restoring everything tend to 100%
used many programs, there was a need to restore the screw after formatting in ext2fs ...
really felt r-studio!
the rest did not inspire, even getdataback...
but r-studio works with a bang, makes several passes, makes several images, each of which can be analyzed and saved, a whole heuristic analysis and an intelligent robot for collecting crashed data, a real thing that can help in the most difficult cases! in reality, you only need to have a disk where imaginary recovery images are saved, which is at least the size of the donor disk, that is, the one from where the recovery comes from!
It's just a masterpiece! After a day of fuss, the sound appeared))
The scheme was as follows - it was necessary to let Windows install firewood automatically, and then roll over the control panel for sound devices, modified by someone under the subject.
A small bonus was that the microphone cable was plugged into the speaker jack (not initially).
Another of the pleasant bonuses of Windows 7 - in the process of removing the drivers, the Group Policy Management Console suddenly cut itself out. "Unable to open object... Possibly insufficient user rights." And that's it! However, it initially worked. Google gave practically nothing - either Windows 2003 server, or DNS settings (which I did not touch at all). The only thing - cut off all sorts of UAC.
With a psycho I wanted to reinstall Windu. It wasn't there))) - 0xc00000e9. Neither the drive, nor bootable flash drives, nor system recovery - do not work. And a paradoxical stalemate - of all the options, only the entrance to the installed system works))
Why am I describing all this. WHO ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE who sang in unison about the incredible stability of the seven compared to XP ???
Here XP - was surprisingly stable. I didn’t slip my auto-tuning curves and admin. rights. To crash it - perhaps only a hardware error. So questions about a possible migration to 8-ku or 10-ku are removed automatically.
Yes, and 7 is questionable. I'll sit (since the sound has appeared) while on it. If administrative problems are not solved, I will return to XP.
