I’m just starting to learn web design, I ran into such a problem that information diverges in different sources. What should be the size of the layout for the site, if, for example, the customer asks only for the mobile and main version (desktop). Thanks in advance for your reply!

Usually they make 1920px for desktop and 360px for mobile. However, you can also find 1336px for desktop, but this is not so common.
And make the height 10,000 at the beginning, when you finish, cut it off.
