What should an SEO assistant know?

Good evening everyone, I am a 4th year student of the Faculty of IT and I was invited for an interview for the position of assistant seo-optimizer.
Nothing is really written in the duties and requirements, except for the notorious "website promotion" and knowledge of html.
I called, they said at the interview there would be a knowledge test on promotion / optimization.
Tell me, please, what kind of test (can anyone come across) and what to prepare for?
Or recommend a book

I recommend looking at the answers on the toaster:
Where and how to train an employee on SEO?
What SEO resources and literature do you recommend?
What is included in the monthly work of an SEO optimizer?
Is this book good (SEO)?
Which sites publish SEO cases?
Perhaps you will find something interesting for yourself.

Yes, it’s nothing special, they will tell you what to do, SEO is quite a routine job.

You don't need to know anything for this job.
It will be a plus:
1) Know a little html
2) Read the recommendations of search engines, especially what they consider spam and what sites are punished for.
Those. the assistant has to do some routine things and it would be great if he didn't have to explain the basics of html (title, meta tags, links). Plus, no matter what he screwed up, because of some read outdated information, so the recommendations of the search engines themselves, this is what you need.

The most important thing is understanding the basics of SEO and how search engines work.
Personally, in our company, the requirements for a candidate for a similar vacancy are as follows:

  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS;
  • Knowledge of basic CMS is desirable (Word Press, Umi and Bitrix);
  • Knowledge of SEO basics and general principles of ranking;
  • Ability to learn and quickly assimilate information;
  • It is desirable to have a technical education (full or last year, with the possibility of full employment);
  • Desire to acquire new knowledge, independence and responsibility;
  • Teamwork skills.

I have been working with an assistant for the second year, before that I worked with another person
In my opinion, the assistant should know:
1. Basics of internal optimization (what is a keyword, meta tags, linking, semantic core)
2. Skills of working with at least one CMS (the rest it will be possible to understand with experience)
3. Knowledge of the basics of external optimization (what is an anchor, indicators of the quality of the link mass)
The optimizer should monitor the relevance of knowledge, under whose supervision an assistant will consist. Also, the optimizer must teach the helper what he does not know, but what is required for his work. For example, I do this, but I heard that in companies, an SEO optimizer assistant can be assigned to any small routine work that other employees do not want to do
