What should a programmer read about design?
What should a front end programmer read about design for general development? Interested in some book or collection of articles, where information about fonts, colors, shades, etc. is collected in general terms.

Based on typography and grids by Tschichold and Müller-Brockmann. For animation, you can google Disney and Physics in Animation. A lot of different interesting things, alas, I don’t remember specifically. Based on UX by Jakob Nielsen.
Programmer - Steve Krug. The fact is that the developer's thinking is fundamentally different from the thinking of an ordinary person, and therefore the interfaces created by programmers are often incomprehensible, complex and inconvenient for an ordinary user. Steve Krug is one of the founding fathers of UX and goes into great detail about this issue (in short, programmers are too smart).
Visual design (typography, colors, composition) is the second question.
In terms of typography, "Typography and Layout" by Artem Gorbunov is very good. It well describes and illustrates the basic principles of building a good layout. I would read it first, and then everything else - because it forms a clear base. Then, if necessary, deepen.
"Psychiatric hospital in the hands of patients." Easy to read, explains the essence of interaction design.
In general, design is a rather complicated science to just read a couple of articles and begin to understand. I've been in design for 8 years and still haven't understood it the way I would like :)
Reading all sorts of Tschicholds, Gordons, Ittenovs and Raskins - God forbid. It's hard to imagine a more boring read. Although these guys are recognized monsters in their field, there are no popularizers.

Online books on the website of Artem Gorbunov - "User Interface" and "Typography and Layout". All business, no philosophy. They will teach (and tell you why) such seemingly "unnecessary" things for coders as grouping elements, indents, etc.
Another easy but useful book lies here . Namely, the living typography of Alexandra Korolkova.
