What should a PM know and be able to do?
Good afternoon, dear hackers. I need a little help, or rather guidance on the true path.
I'm working on my little project with my brother. There are three of us in the team, I do what I do:
• Search for contractors to perform work in the field of web development;
• Statement of primary requirements for the product, approval of the terms of reference (TOR);
• Quality control of products at every stage of development;
• Organization of the daily work of the resource, work with a group of copywriters;
• Interaction with SEO-companies to organize the promotion of the resource;
• Collection of analytical information and its further analysis;
• Participation in operational and medium-term planning.
Those. I do everything that a project manager does, but due to the fact that we have a “very large company”, we do not use task managers, bug trackers, content trackers and other things. And in general, I am a king and a jester in one person. And in general, my education is not specialized, but humanitarian.
Because you want to change the world, feel like a member of a big team, and earn money. I decided to apply for a project manager in a fairly large company. Today I had an interview. In general, I understand what is being done and how. But when it comes down to details, I don't know. I was offered to pump for two months and try again.
Could you suggest the pack of knowledge that the PM should have. For links to articles and books, I will be extremely grateful.

I dare to offer a resource stratoplan.ru and read something from habrahabr.ru/company/devrainsolutions/blog/163311/

It's not clear what exactly you don't know. Real experience is usually 5 times better than knowledge of “other things”. Either the employer really did not like you, or the employer himself does not know how to separate a good employee from a person with a “beautiful resume”.
In general, a good manager is one who has a successfully implemented project behind him. And if this project is your own, then what for an interview? Here it is necessary to correctly tell how you want to join the “team”, take part in the “global”, etc. etc. Those. by all means show their corporatism, and scold individualism and the spirit of entrepreneurship.
And "Other stuff" is nothing to do with it IMHO :) Good luck
!
a bit self-defeating way, but if you like practice: do a _big_ project. This is where everything pops up.
In general, the PM is, in fact, the project manager, he steers them. The required skills, in the end, depend quite well on the team, tasks and level of the customer. Depending on the combination of qualities of the team, project and customers, you will have to solve very different tasks.
The routine, however, is still made up of dispatches “the customer wants - to transform into a task - to transfer to the right developer”, “the developer asked - to formulate in the language of the customer - to find out the answer and work out a solution”.
