What scheme is used to store translations of texts in large projects?

There is an application that is updated once a week, and about 5-20 new texts appear, which are translated into different languages. And translations are now stored in regular files, but some complain that when committing to githap, conflicts arise, and you constantly need to merge, about 5-10 files.
They say it's bad to store translations in the database, and it's so loaded. Does anyone have experience in this matter? What scheme are you using?

@firedragon

For application resources. NET Xamarin
For data, stupidly different backends (PHP)
en.host.ru/api/....
ua.host.ru/api/....
ru.host.ru/api/....
but we have historically happened.
In other systems, we simply use the localizable content type. In fact, this is a database with a bunch of fields and a translation option is stored there. But this is a sharepoint, it has its own atmosphere.
