What's wrong with the quality of development?
Hello!
In principle, my question is extremely simple: where are we all running? :)
But in this form, no one will understand it, so the details.
At the moment, there are a bunch of large companies: Kaspersky, Yandex, Lego ...
And in my humble opinion, both of them have an unpleasant feature: they are strenuously running forward and ... shitty!
This is expressed in the abundance of bugs in applications. I can immediately name a couple of old bugs in Casper, no less old ones in i.browser and just constantly messing up i.taxi.
wtf?
It seems that both companies are quite large, practically monopolists in the market, and nothing prevents them from launching a product, for example, a couple of weeks later. And fix a few more bugs.
And at the same time, they are never startups and can afford a little extra expenses. (As I understand it, two weeks of delay for a startup translates into "extra" salaries for developers and testers, as a result, there is a chance that the startup will go bankrupt before it launches the product ...)
Why are they doing this? What drives them forward? It seems that competitors are not stepping on their heels. (At least not in the field of desktop development).
Yes, I guess that somewhere at the lower level there is a manager who promised the management a launch date, as he always slept through it, and is forced to poke the developers with a stick and launch a raw product. And, probably, he is torn between the need to launch a high-quality product, or launch a low-quality product, but on time, and get a bonus for it ... But after all, experienced ones, on the third run, they should already plan "longer" dates, why don't they do it ?

Without knowing the inner workings of these companies, you think that they have plenty of time.
But you don't know how much work there really is and in what directions these products are developing?
Take Kaspersky - over 4,000 people in 32 countries. The fact that the company has not collapsed in such a long time is an indicator of the level of management is much higher than average. And it is clear that a company of this size has its own vision for the business and really important features, thanks to which you can stay on the market and stay at the top of this market.
And you are talking about some beautiful code .. =)
