What's wrong with keys in arch linux?

I entered "archinstall" in the console, everything was fine until I got the password entry: it was not displayed, then I somehow managed to enter it, and in the next field I made a mistake, pressed the backspace, but instead of deleting the character, I entered "^H" in the line . What the hell?

it didn't show up

Yes, characters (even in the form of asterisks) are usually not displayed. This is done for security purposes so that you can not see the number of characters entered.
entered "^H" into the string.

It's Ctrl+h. So the terminal is set up to send Ctrl+h, which is basically the same as backspace - deletes the character to the left of the cursor.
What the hell?

Everything is in order, it was just necessary to read a book about Linux.
