What's Good About New Versions of Android?

Good day,
choosing a smartphone, I noticed that for many it is important that the smartphone has the latest version of android. I'm wondering why? Those. it is clear that bugs are being fixed, "features" are being added, and so on, which can be read in the changelog of each version. I read that new versions, android are not so slow (relative to 1.6). But is there a big difference between versions 4.0 and 4.2? Have there been any significant changes?
All I need is that the OS does not slow down, and convenient access to the Internet. Programs like Connect Bot worked for me on version 1.5 (with root).
Thanks…

The big difference between 4.0 and 4.1 is Project Butter . The difference in the smoothness of the interface is significant. They also added Google Now (similar to Siri), but at the moment its scope in Russia is very limited. There are practically no new products in 4.2, so you can pay less attention to it.
Also, the android version is an indicator of how quickly the manufacturer will roll out firmware with future updates. Let's say that in 5.0 a killer feature that you really need will appear - and for your smartphone, the firmware will be released six months or a year after the announcement. Therefore, many choose smartphones from Google, although they also have disadvantages.
In my opinion, now it is worth taking smartphones only with 4.1 or an already announced imminent update.

Well, read this in the changelog. What is important to you may be useless to others. And vice versa.
For me, one of the important changes is the ability to work in 2 windows. (I just don’t know if this is an android feature or a Samsung dope).

Essentially, the changes are cosmetic. Compared to 1.6, the GUI has changed a lot. It is necessary to take at least Android 2.3, because JIT appeared there .

4.1 introduced offline speech recognition. In my opinion, this is the most noticeable innovation since the release of 4.0.
I myself will now change my smartphone from 4.0 to a smartphone from 4.0 and the planned 4.1.

In the complete Android browser of older versions (according to various sources, up to 2.3 or 3.1 inclusive) there is a bug that does not allow scrolling blocks that have their own scrollbar.

After upgrading from 4.0 to 4.1, my 3D performance increased by 50%.
It's easier to make a full yuekap, update and compare. You can always roll back.
