What resolution to use for website design?

Tell a beginner web designer.
I am just starting to work in this area. There are many articles on the Internet, but there is no definite answer =(

Users have too many screens today. From mobile phones to full hd. If you have a static site, then take the standard width of 960 and make a design that will not look inadequate on large screens.
In general, you can use fluid layout or adaptive design with adjustment to different resolutions in *height:
* 320px
* 480px
* 600px
* 768px * 900px
* 1200px

Do 4/5K right away, because it is always easier to correct for a smaller size than for a large one. IMHO!

We draw layouts with a width of 1920px 72dpi, we approve the width of the content with the client (for example, 1020) ... This is enough to see the preview on almost any monitor, enough to show the behavior of backgrounds at different resolutions if rubber is not typeset /responsive.
