What performance characteristics of a VPS should you focus on if you want to run a VPN server and Tor and I2P clients on it?

I want to set up a VPS on linux that would allow me to access the Internet and hidden networks. I can google hosters and setup manuals, but how do I estimate how much RAM, disk space and CPU time I need? In other words, should it be a powerful virtual machine, or will the minimum set be enough for me?

The larger the processor, the faster the encrypted traffic will fly.
For example, for 50 mbps encrypted openvpn traffic, you need one AMD turion core.
The more memory, the more software you can run. In general, from memory, it's not very voracious (100-200 mb RSS per instance), but still.
You need to look at the channel before you (well, or the one who will use it). That is, if you are in Russia, then the VDS should obviously not be in the USA / Japan / Singapore.
Virtualization technology - definitely KVM, otherwise you will suffer with kernel modules and ask support to enable them. You can Xen, but there it may turn out that some modules will have to be assembled by hand.

There is a problem with VPS due to the fact that VPS are hosted on one physical server. And in 99.0% of cases, this server is connected to the Internet at a speed of 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps. At the same time, it matters how many more traffic-dependent VPSs are placed on this node (this number is dynamic and can change depending on the number of clients at any given time).
The fewer of them, the better for you, since other things being equal, the number of network lags will be less at a speed of 1 Gbps and with fewer clients per node. In general, now you can find low-power physical servers for 9-15 euros on which you can work much more stably than on a VPS. In addition, it should be borne in mind that almost everywhere now they are required to keep logs of work on servers, and in this sense, your own physical server also has an advantage.
