What operating system and IT infrastructure virtualization environment are relevant for this project?
Dear colleagues,
Hello! Please tell me the operating system and virtualization environment for the project. Infrastructure for virtualization: corporate portal, shared folders, mail.
There is experience with Hyper-V, but there are prerequisites for switching to the Linux platform. At the moment, I want to study solutions and develop infrastructure in this direction.
Read similar questions, could not choose. From the requirements, I would like enough documentation to study so that the solution is popular, with a large community. Restrictions on system resources are secondary.

KVM. In what form you will use it (RHEV, Openstack, proxmox) - already fucked up =)
Better learn how to cook it with your hands, by the way.
Look towards ProxMox , a fairly popular solution, there are both containers and virtual machines out of the box.
It all depends on the task and the budget.
If your environment is on windows, then it is probably better to build virtualization on Hyper-V. If you intend to use linux, then again it all comes down to a task. Important parameters such as fault tolerance, live migration, etc., according to these criteria, you can already think what to take (paid or free solution).
From native to linux, KVM works very well. Well documented, easy to manage.
From container I can advise openvz. Lots of good documentation too. Stable operation and very convenient management utilities.
Both virtualization data are free.
