What on business affects autocrlf?

All good. In fact, what does the autocrlf flag do?
It is clear that line endings in unixes are lf , and in Windows crlf
So, how to do it?
I write under Windows ( PHPStorm doesn't care what option to use), scripts work on Debian
I'm already confused ;( I set the autocrlf flag to FALSE in the GIT settings . PHPStorm now says to me: "no, let's set this flag to TRUE better)
