What *nix to put on the Acer D250 netbook?

Hello.
I want to put the second OS on the Acer D250 netbook to put * nix. The netbook was upgraded (added memory and changed the hard drive to a more spacious one). In *nix at a level almost zero. I put a couple of times on a virtual machine. The purpose of the installation is to study this OS and conduct some experiments (installing LAMP, etc.). If you like it, I want to completely switch to Linux.

I had the same netbook, for the same purposes.
Used - linux mint xfce, the distribution is focused on minimal resource consumption (xfce), has a complete set of software (mint), has a convenient and most popular package manager - apt-get (inherited from ubuntu).

Hello.
I want to put the second OS on the Acer D250 netbook to put * nix.
For what purpose?
If you want to somehow use the old slow hardware, then it's better to install Windows 7 (if you have 2GB of RAM) or XP (if you only have 1GB).
If the goal is learning, then it’s more convenient to study on a virtual machine, it’s more convenient, and besides, you don’t have to solve problems with hardware.

I have AOD270.
After two years of operation, I can say one thing:
Any distribution kit with a light graphical environment. The video card is weak.
