What name to choose for Active Directory?

Hello! Set up a domain controller on the server. The domain is called local.domain.ru - I thought it would be right, but after installing exchange according to the instructions, I must add the mail subdomain to the DNS manager. But then I get the name mail.local.domain.ru . Please tell me how to do it right?

@Zoominger

The domain is called local.domain.ru

Not o.k. Name something like "supersus.local", the first word - any, the second - "local". Through the dot.

A few years ago here I answered about the name of the AD domain. In general, my view has not changed much.
As for Exchange -> it strongly depends on the AD name, it is desirable to avoid the suffix ".local" and others and use ".ru", ".com" etc.
In general, there is nothing wrong with .local, but sometimes if you do not use additional Load Balancers that will terminate SSL, then it is better to avoid it, because you will have problems with certificates. For the zone ru/com -> at least you can get a free certificate from letsencrypt.
PS
I missed that the zone you already have is ".ru", the word local was a little embarrassing.
