What method of mathematical statistics is suitable for extracting the correct result from a sample?

Good afternoon. There is a task to collect user surveys and determine the correct answers by statistically processing the sample. How is the calculation planned?

  • Define and discard selections.
  • Define fashion.
  • Somehow make sure that the selected mode is statistically significant and correct. Those. if we have 100 answers and 80 of them say that the value of the parameter A is x and not y, then we can say that the answer A = x is correct and statistically significant. If we have 45 responses saying that A = x and 39 responses saying that A = y then the statement A = x is true but not significant. The sample size should also be taken into account. Those. on 4 answers, of which 3 say that A = x, we cannot assert the significance of the results.

The main question is what methods are appropriate for determining the significance of the mode/outcome. Perhaps fashion is not the best option

Significance questions reveal methods for statistical hypothesis testing . You choose the hypothesis that "A is equal to x" and then, based on the sample size and the obtained observed values (distribution of user responses), estimate the probability of error that "we thought that A is equal to x, but in fact it was equal to y " .

Of course, I'm not a pro with statistics, but since everyone is silent, I think this presentation is in the subject: https://stepic.org/media/attachments/lesson/9166/%...

How did you end up solving the problem? Did you manage to find something else on the topic? Very interesting. Tell me, please.
