What means to make a full backup of the hackentosh?

I decided to build myself a hackentosh. Since I am an ios developer, it is important for me that the system is always available and stable, but this is a hack and there is a risk that it will be covered by any update. I decided that it would be good to make a backup of the system (not just files, but the entire partition), so that if something happens, I would be able to quickly return everything "as it was" before the fateful event. Actually the question of what is better to use for this, comes to mind akronis.

Is backup of the system partition from recovery using native disk utility also something bad?
