What makes you a sought-after freelancer?

If you look at yourself from the outside, what would you highlight from the main qualities that really allow you to stay afloat and make good money? What are your best practices, tips that you would give to beginners? What do you try not to spend too much time on?
Also, what are you avoiding?
I'm not asking what to read, etc., I'm asking what it does and what you aspire to do in general terms.

A lot of things have been mentioned here, some of the above-mentioned fads also apply to me, but most importantly, about 80%, thanks to which everything seems to be ok for me, this is
1) searching for teams with which you will work at least ~ 90+ hours (long-term projects, when freelance - in fact, 2-3 customers per year);
2) sense of humor, eccentricity of carpet letters
3) level of English (I only speak foreign languages), literacy of the language, conciseness; not too much and not too little information; here 4 years of study at the best linguistic university in my country was very useful to me, from which I safely left when I got tired
4) frequent communication
5) the ability to defend my opinion, to prove it, it happened that I refused half of the project, because the customer wanted heresy in my opinion.
6) work in a key, when the customer sees that money is not the main thing for you (and this is actually the case, money here is a very insignificant indicator, if about serious freelancing)
7) lack of sycophancy, everything is strict, harsh, and to the point; so that both team leaders and CEOs understand that you are good at something and appreciate what you say
8) the search for teams, startups, and not customers who want everything at once. it is desirable to search for teams that have a classic project development:
idea-design-UX-design-front-end-testing-backend-testing-
production the longest-term project I got was by writing "lol, wtf, you already ***" in the letter and putting a smiley.

In my opinion, to give an answer, you do not need to be a freelancer at all:
you need to be able to do your job well and on time.
there are a lot of chips like - to do a little more than agreed and so on. But the most important thing I wrote above, and this applies to any specialty and any type of work. Good professionals are always needed.

In all the reviews on oDesk and Elance, my clients always mention three things:

  1. Compliance of the result with expectations;
  2. Compliance with and ahead of time;
  3. Contribution of personal ideas to the project

It is the ability to do something that makes it in demand. Experience and practice, as well as responsibility. Roughly speaking, I know that my client will be ready to pay me the required amount or forgive me for some flaws (well, stretching the deadlines or bugs, it happens to everyone anyway) simply because it’s still easier for him than looking for it is not clear who will work in an incomprehensible way (or will not work at all) or will disappear forever (even taking an advance payment). You just need to prove to the customer once that you can and will not throw him. Everything else is a compromise. Customers really feel when you do not care about the final result.
Well, it remains to weed out uninteresting and cheap projects (which you will pull and do anyhow) and unsuitable customers, and everything will start to stick together.
