You have an incorrect understanding of the principle of building programs in Linux.
In Windows, any program, when it starts to grow, will certainly drag all the features into itself, because integration between programs is impossible in principle (with the exception of programs from the same manufacturer).
In Linux, any program can integrate with any other program (with the exception of some paid ones), so a "mail server" in Linux is usually a combination of various programs: an SMTP server, an IMAP server, and integration with AD and everything else comes in directly to the system - PAM, OpenLDAP, SSS etc.
You can really raise the Zimbra Community Edition - everything inside is the same, just the muzzle is stretched over it.
What is ad integration? Postfix+Dovecot work fine, you can even tie the web, although I do not quite understand why it is.
Since:
1. There is no own experience in integrating the mail service into the structure
2. It is necessary to associate with active directory
That:
Exchange is your choice!
I installed qmail many years ago, it replaced the exchange well for me. I stuffed a Thunderbird with skins from Outlook for clients. At first, no one even noticed until the secretary wanted to see the boss's calendar. And now all this is not necessary - buy corporate soap from gmail.
