What keyboard shortcuts do you use to work with the desktop?
A question for the purpose of exchanging experience, ideas, and all that.
My layout for Gnome-3 is:
Win+Tab : Cycle windows (on the same desktop)
Win+Del : Close
Win+Home : Minimize
(used to be +Ins, with more risk of hitting Del)
Win+Up: Maximize to full screen
Win+Down : unmaximize
Win +Left, +Rigth : take up half the screen
(for two file manager panes)
Menu : overview mode
Menu +PgUp, +PgDown : switch to top or bottom desktop
Win+Menu +PgUp, +PgDown : drag window to nearby desktop
(And I would also like: dragging a window into the gap between desktops)
Menu + Tab : switching between applications
Menu + letter : launching all sorts of programs (terminal, emacs, calculator, browser, file manager)
(And I would also like any smart-ass, such as creating a new evernote note or a new letter in gmail)
Menu+Space : command execution window
(I no longer use it due to the lack of auto-prompts and the "run in terminal" checkbox)
And so on to the heap:
Win+PrintScreen : screenshot of a separate window
Ctrl+PrintScreen : screenshot of selected area
Caps, Shift+Caps : keyboard layouts (guided by amarao)

Completely refused to switch between windows via Alt + Tab and others like them. To do this, I use 5 desktops in my work and switch between them using Alt + table_number. And it always pissed me off when Alt + Tab skipped the desired window and had to go to the second round) Objectively, with desktops everything will turn out much easier and faster
