What is this declaration of string variables?

In a macro, I came across such a declaration of lines: Who created the macro is unknown. No one to ask. What does "(100)" mean?
Dim var1(100), var2(100), var3(100) As String

What does "(100)" mean?

I understand that this line reserves memory for 3 string arrays of 100 elements each, and if memory does not lie to me, if for example * 25 were written after string, then this would mean 25 characters each element
