What is the simplest scheme for setting up a mail server with a MySQL backend?

Hello! Please tell me the least time-consuming option in the initial setup for setting up a mail server in conjunction with a MySQL database (as far as I understand, a connection with a database is when I can change / create / delete mailboxes directly through the database). Thanks for answers.
