What is the secret of high Google Vitals performance?

A manager at work wants all of our projects to score high on Google Vitals.
I'm trying to solve this within one of the projects, but it seems in vain. At first everything worked out well:
- Everything superfluous was cut out of bootstrap,
- All jquery was rewritten in vanilla js,
- Pictures were condensed and translated into webp.
- Minification and caching is configured on the server side.

The only thing that gave a drawdown was Largest Contentful Paint. You delete the picture - around 100 on the phone, leave it - it drops to 80-90. As a result, after a long enumeration of possible configurations, it was decided to put up with the problem. Some time passed and for some reason the indicators fell to 40-50, despite the absence of any changes.

I look at other sites with more sophisticated sliders, a bunch of pictures and frameworks - despite this, the indicators are still higher than on the site of that project. What could be the secret? Is this possible to resolve?
