What is the password for the ubuntu user on AWS ES2?

Sometimes it requires an ubuntu user password, which I don't have. Probably there is some kind of default?
Or, for example, I want to set a password for the ubuntu user. When passwd requires the current password again, which I do not have.

The root password must be sent by email
During normal setup, the password is not used, but the key set in the AWS admin panel is used
