What is the optimal hosts file size?
There is a hosts file almost 85 megabytes in size, while Chrome is already slowing down a little. I would like to understand if there are any recommendations / restrictions on the size of this file?
PS OS Win 8.1 x64

Usually this file consists of a couple of lines on the topic localhost.
When it starts to grow like this, the question immediately arises: Why is the existence of DNS ignored in this network ?!
And if this file is used as a substitute for a proxy / firewall, and the names of objectionable hosts are written into it with pens ... well, this is total darkness.
