What is the modern approach / technology for data exchange between 1C and the site?

There is a store with 10k goods and today the update from 1C goes directly to the database with a number of ensuing problems.
I would like to completely reorganize this part.
How, taking into account today's technologies, is it best to organize the work of data exchange between 1C <-> site?
Can 1C use the website API for POST, PUT, DELETE requests?
Can 1C provide an API, for example, send order data there?
Is it advisable to work through the API both on the one hand and on the other? what are the pitfalls?
Is there a 1C possibility to send data in real-time, for example, via WebSocket?
I would appreciate any thoughts.

There are REST APIs and Web services... That's enough.
There are events + API , here's real time for you.
