I want to make a quadcopter. At the same time, do not assemble the hardware with your hands and upload the firmware, but just the opposite. Mechanics (frame, motors) I am ready to buy entirely. It is interesting to design electronics yourself and write firmware in C.

I wouldn't design motor controllers if I were you. Brains yes, interesting. See multiwii code examples for example. An example of electronics design is a Chinese board for Captain Cook (sold at Hobbyking). Labor costs are large if you do not know how to solder and poison boards. In programming, you need to know noise filters (ideal-Kaufman filter) and PID, and of course, geometry.
