What is the i7 processor for?
On the Internet they write:
- "i7 is not needed for games, you will not get almost any increase, take i5",
- "i7 is not needed for video editing and 3D rendering, you will not get almost any increase, fx 8320-8350 is better".
For the server, it seems like it was not created either. The manufacturers themselves, in addition to writing that it is super powerful and awesome and offers the highest performance, do not say anything else.
What then is the i7 for and why is it good, why are they asking so much money for it? Please give a clear and detailed answer.

Toys, video processing, graphics... it's a video card. Programming (building, compiling), computing... i7 is needed here (more cores, more processor cache).
Yes, and in games and other things, there will also be a performance increase, just not so significant.
To play the kerchief with the computer sorting through all possible options.
The older i7s have more cores than the older i5s.
Why do we need more cores? To increase the processing power of the processor, obviously.
For virtualization, it helps a lot, for example.
In my case, numerical calculations are electrodynamics + hydrodynamics.
i5 is good too, but i7 is better - i.e. faster. It can be counted in 7-8 streams.
