What is the hardware and software component for the implementation of augmented reality?

I want to try myself in a new field - development for augmented reality.
I chose Python as a programming language (I use Linux, and I really don’t want to switch to windows)
I’m interested in what is generally needed in order to make my first HelloWorld on a marker and, of course, tips and kicks in the right direction.
