Before that, I used Intelij Idea, but it's expensive.

Of all the IDEs that I had to use, I settled on IDEA Ultimate. Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth it.
But if you fundamentally need a free IDE, then:
STS or Eclipse - backend
Visual Studio Code or OSS - frontend
