What is the easiest way to connect keyboards and pointing devices to non-USB single boards?

PS/2 devices for lack of other options. USB is not considered for obvious reasons.
A simple way is a sequence of actions

  1. Got the correct controller.
  2. Soldered the necessary hinge, connected to a single-board
  3. launched
  4. Minimal editing of configs in /etc
  5. modprobe $desired_driver
  6. Everything was determined, picked up and working

All that I found on the Internet is a simulation of a PS / 2 controller on a GPIO with writing a “bicycle” - a software implementation of the PS / 2 protocol and a cyclic polling of devices.
