Mainly because books in reality are not objects in RPGs. From the fact that you have a book, your skills will not change. You need to work with the book, delve into the material, do exercises. And since we here do not know your abilities and knowledge, for you personally the answer is - as the name suggests, one was written by Martin, and the second by McConnell.
